It can be hard work running a family business, but brothers in wine Rick and Andrew Buller would have it no other way. Rick oversees management of our Beverford winery while Andrew is winemaker / manager of the Calliope vineyards and Rutherglen winery. Both brothers opted for a 'hands on' approach to learning their craft, albeit following different paths. Under the tutelage of his father, Rick worked the 1973 and 1974 vintages at Rutherglen, becoming manager at Beverford. His first vintage in 1975 was a resounding success, picking up nine awards at the Brisbane Wine Show. They like to keep it all in the family at Buller, so fruit is drawn from their two vineyards in Rutherglen and Beverford, run by Andrew and Rick Buller respectively. Their Rutherglen winery, Calliope, is 42 km from Albury-Wodonga. Beverford is on the Murray Valley Highway, 16km north of Swan Hill in the burgeoning Swan Hill wine region.
