This wine is an excellent example of just how well Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon knit together. The Shiraz component is rich, ripe and opulent, contributing brambly dark fruits and giving the wine plenty of body and middle palate, whilst the Cabernet aids the overall structure, contributing fine, ripe tannins and giving the wine a lift with plenty of sweet red berry fruit. The palate is soft, ripe and round, exploding with briary fruit and delicate hits of spice, earth and tar.

-Crystal clear with subtle green hues. Nashi pear and Fuji apple leap from the glass followed by a hint of white peach. The flavours carry through from the initial aromatic impression with ripe apples, crunchy pears and a crisp clean finish. This wine dances delicately in the mouth and caresses the taste buds. Have it with... Grilled seafood or Asian Cuisine

With time the full spice, strawberry and liquorice and blackcurrants will develop with fresh pepper tails; at this stage, it is a mean monster with fragrant, gritty, fruit tannins that go on forever. Eventually, the Grenache and Shiraz blossom as rich, sweet, violet-like scents, with spicy based aroma, before malty, sweet, dark chocolate flavours and crunchy, chewy textured black olive, spicy ginger and long fleshy textures.

The Mourvedre adds dried herbs and iodine characters that are very persistent, matched with slightly chalky tannins. The hallmark of vigorous, fine piquant tannin and acidity continue to reside with ‘The Ironstone Pressings’ after some considerable time, as have previous vintages since the late 1950’s.

Almost black in colour with purple flints - excellent depth. The bouquet is tight, demonstrating pine needles, dusty cherries, liquorice and beef blood. The palate is initially sweet, with a beautiful framework of purple fruits, earth and tar. Excellent acid balance with good fruit concentration building in the mid palate finishing with dry grainy tannins.

Sourced from material aged between six and ten years old, this wine is the foundation of the style; displaying the fresh raisin aromas, rich fruit, clean spirit and great length of flavor on the palate which are the mark of all the Muscats of Rutherglen. Drink now or cellar.

The grapes are handpicked and fermented with natural yeasts in open stainless steel tanks at temperatures up to 32 degree Celsius. All the pressings are returned to the 100% new French oak barriques and the maturation lasts for 18 months before bottling without fining or filtration.

This is always the most beautiful wine in the cellar and is the flagship of the Clarendon Hills Syrah Range.

Deep purple colour. The nose shows intense, complex cedary, fig, blackberry and blueberry with occasional pepper/spice too. A powerful full-bodied berry fruit flavour, with a little sweet English toffee- like oak evident on the juicy, rolling finish. Restrained tannin and acidity coupled with rich alcohol, produce a seamless, peppery, velvety rolling length.

Still drinking well due to the long term climate controlled storage since release. Fantastic everyday drinking wine, excellent value for money.

Adjusting the fruit at the crusher with tannins and acid and then the careful handling of the fruit throughout the ferment ensures for a wonderful wine at the finish. The ferment is finished in New French oak with an addition of Cabernet pressings, Cabernet and Petit Verdot made to the wine early to enable the marriage to be complete before it is ready for bottling.

A great example of Barossan shiraz. Rich and ripe blackberry fruit partner with well integrated charry oak in the background. A luscious mouthfeel with some earthy tobacco and licorice nuances. Finishes long. Has developed beautifully and is drinking well.

Upon release, ‘The Dead Arm’ Shiraz has a vivid, young, dense, purple-red colour. Very intense aromas with a complex combination of fragrant spices and violets, dark cherry, blackberry and blueberry, are made more complex with great liquorice, pepper and integrated svelte of boot-polish like characters. The taste is rich, gutsy and virile, with attacking spice, dark liquorice, cherry, blackberry, plum and dried black olive. The level of fruit weight masks the framework of oak tannins; however, the mineral fruit grittiness is balanced with a very long fruit-fragrant, persistent spice will yield a wine of great ageing power.

The 2002 season was characterised by a cold, wet winter and spring, which produced lower yields with good, thick-skinned berries. The cool and dry summer ripened fruit gradually and a warm, dry autumn allowed the grapes to ripen fully, producing some of the best and most exotic characters seen for many years.

The 2003 season was characterised by a very low winter rainfall which signalled the vine to minimize potential crop load. The ripening period was warm producing a crop load of small berries and very pure, ripe fruit characters. Even with a smaller than normal crop load many batches showed wonderful fruit characters due to an excellent skin to pulp ratios and this is evident in the final wine. This year in particular selected parcels of fruit deemed worthy of the Dead Arm label were down 50% in volume.
