Yarra Yering Agincourt Cabernet Malbec 2018 750mL - 12 Pack

    Manufacturer: Yarra Yering
Perfume is the signature of this wine with lifted bramble and redcurrant fruits. Bright fruit flavours include cranberry, mulberries and blueberries. Fresh nettle presents a leafy lift and many tannins and clove spices dance with vibrant acidity and an elegant fruit drive. The Malbec brings an energy and bright crunch to the wine. The aromatics and accessible fruit palate make this a deliciously approachable Cabernet blend. 96 Points – 2022 Halliday Wine Companion

“Could this be any more aromatic, with its perfect mix of florals, fruit and spice? The savouriness of (30%) malbec comes through as a mere accompaniment to the heady cabernet. Oak remains in the background, tannins are perfectly judged and acidity is bright. It promises to delight now and for some years hence.” – Jane Faulkner, 2022 Halliday Wine Companion.

    Winemaking

Hand harvested, transferred across a sorting table, both bunches and berries to remove any green material. The Cabernet is destemmed and then crushed into the half-tonne open fermenters. Hand plunged twice daily with some extended time on skins to soften the Cabernet tannins. Maturation in French Bordeaux shaped barrels; only 15% new oak to enhance the juicy fruit palate and immediate enjoyment.

    Varietals: 75% Cabernet, 25% Malbec.

    Region: Yarra Valley, Victoria, Australia

Vines: Fruit was sourced from the Agincourt block of Cabernet sauvignon planted in 1995 and Malbec planted in 1990. The Agincourt block is one of the more sheltered sites and this Cabernet clone is highly aromatic and lifted.

Cellaring: Drinking beautifully at present and made to be approachable when young but it will also continue to evolve for a further 5 years under suitable cellaring conditions.

    Analysis: 13.5 % Alc.
